About Amanda
- Born in Trinidad & Tobago, and came here in ‘99 to go to Western, and never left!
- Lived in London, Hamilton, Guelph, Mississauga, North York and Markham; I’ve worked in Kitchener-Waterloo, and Toronto.
- Volunteered at every Humane Society, SCPA, or similar organization, including joining university clubs to help raise money and awareness for these groups.
- Rescued first dog through PetSmart Charities and he was our beloved dog for almost 17 years.
- Rehomed Ralphy while we still had Charlie, but lost Ralphy before we rescued our current doggy, Calli.
- Background in marketing, retail management, customer service, hospitality, event management, financial management, and strategic planning.
- That chick who makes friends with dogs everywhere she goes; you know the one who pets them no matter what they look like; who feeds stray dogs while on vacation in foreign countries. That’s Amanda.
- Ever known someone who says “squirrel” out loud as often as they see one, especially if their dogs haven’t spotted it yet! She was doing ‘Doug’ from “UP!” before he was even created.
- That lady in the neighborhood that most dog families come to with questions, issues, concerns and even fears; that’s her too.
- An active member of her daughter’s School Council, a neighborhood and community event organizer, an incredible cook, a meditator seeking equanimity, a wishful artist, decent crafter and good crocheter, a kickboxing certificate holder, and a lover of nature (definitely a heliophile, but also into psithurism, komorebi and more).
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”
